In this one-day workshop, we will dye High Country Wool using fungi that can be found in the region. We will explore the full spectrum of colors while going over the best practices for extracting optimal color. We'll cover mushroom and lichen ecology, safety, how to look at and describe mushrooms for identification, and ethical harvest practices.
You’ll take home 20 samples and recipes used in class, a compact guidebook that goes through the entire process, a color guide to the best dye species in Colorado, and you’ll have an elegant mushroom-dyed silk scarf! This workshop will prepare you to carry on with your own mushroom and lichen dye experimentation at home and change the way you see fungi forever.
$30 supply fee to be paid at class
